BLACKSBURG – A late goal from Allie George propelled the Hokies to a 1-0 win over Loyola Maryland on Thursday night at Thompson Field.

After the game’s second lightning delay, the match was called off in the 82nd minute due NCAA rule 7.6.2.

The Hokies remain unbeaten through five matches at 4-0-1. Tech’s defense shined in the match – holding the Greyhounds to zero shots for its fourth shutout of the season. It’s the first time the Hokies held an opponent to no shots since Sept. 5, 2011, against Appalachian State.

How it Happened

Through the first 45 minutes, Tech tallied 14 shots and held the Greyhounds to none.

Tech kept the momentum in the second half and maintained possession. The Hokies finally found the back of the net in the 74th minute after Allie George chipped in a goal just in front of the net off a beautiful pass from Natalie Mitchell.
