BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones has been named to the watch list for the Manning Award presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ postseason performances in its balloting.

Finalists will be selected prior to the postseason and the winner will be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Drones (6-2, 234) accounted for 2,903 all-purpose yards and 22 TDs during the 2023 season. The redshirt junior is one of five ACC signal callers on the Manning list. Drones is also on the watch lists for the Davey O'Brien Award and the Maxwell Award.

Tech Athletics recently announced its third sellout for the upcoming season, with the home opener against Marshall joining Clemson and Rutgers. Tickets are moving fast, and fans are encouraged to get seats to the remaining games before they sellout as well.
