BLACKSBURG – With less than 50 days until the 2024 season, defensive lineman Keyshawn Burgos is gaining significant attention, being named to ESPN’s post-spring football sleeper picks to watch ahead of the upcoming season. ESPN evaluated players who could be considered hidden gems for each post-spring Top 25 team and Burgos ranked No. 21 among fierce contenders.

The Chesterfield, Virginia native is entering his third season with the Hokies and has shown substantial improvement in his performance. In his first season as a Hokie, Burgos played in 10 games, making three tackles and 0.5 TFL. However, it was during the 2023 season that he truly began to stand out, playing in all 13 games and accumulating 21 tackles including five TFLs. He registered a season-high four tackles against Syracuse and recorded two sacks, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble to close the season.

Burgos' selection by ESPN was significantly influenced by his impressive performance in the spring game, where he tallied three sacks, four solo tackles and a pass breakup. This showing highlighted his ability to rise to the occasion as the 2024 season approaches, positioning him as a serious contender for a starting spot along the defensive line.

Burgos is poised for his best season yet and his continued development is generating excitement among Hokies fans and analysts alike.
