"We're very excited to add Kate to our class," said head coach Chugger Adair. "She is somebody that we've enjoyed getting to know throughout the recruiting process. She's a versatile, athletic player, who can play upfront or at the back. Kate has good pace, athleticism, and can attack from either position. She is somebody who is passionate about Virginia Tech soccer and will fit in very well with our culture here in Blacksburg."

Why did you choose Tech? I chose Tech because it was the perfect blend of a top tier soccer program and STEM education. The unique team camaraderie and blue-collar mentality immediately resonated with me after visiting for the first time, and I knew Blacksburg was the place I wanted to call home for the next four years.

What was your favorite thing about your visit? My favorite part of the visit was the overall experience of hanging out in the freshman dorms with the other commits and getting to know all of the welcoming players on the team. The photo shoot was also fun because I got to put on the jersey for the first time and have fun with my future teammates.

What do you like about the Tech women's soccer program? I love that the program has a lot to offer, including an amazing coaching staff, a hard-working team that always supports one another, and the opportunity to play in the most competitive conference in the nation.

What are your soccer strengths? My soccer strengths are my speed, tenacity, and play making ability.

Who is your favorite pro player (why)? My favorite pro player is Mallory Pugh because of her explosive dribbling and speed in the winger position. She is also a fun player to watch because of her creativity going to goal.

What is your most memorable soccer moment (why)? One of my most memorable soccer moments was in the first round of playoffs during my sophomore year of high school. My team and I were the underdogs going into the game, and it stayed at a 0-0 tie until I scored the game winner in double-overtime. It was so fun celebrating that moment with my teammates and we ended up going all the way to the state semifinals that year.

What do you think you will major in? I plan to major in chemistry with the hopes of specializing in astrochemistry. I have always enjoyed learning about science and space growing up, and I became more interested in chemistry as I entered high school.

What is one thing you would want Tech fans to know about you? I used to live in Virginia for seven years and am excited to be back as a part of this team. Also, I have been told I make the best chocolate chip cookies.
