BLACKSBURG, VA – Virginia Tech players Emma Ritter and Michelle Chatfield was named All Americans by D1 Softball on Tuesday morning. Ritter was named to the second team after leading the Hokies with a .432 batting average. Chatfield was tabbed to the All-Freshman team after being the leading freshman in the nation with 19 homers.
Ritter started in all 55 games at centerfield this season and did not record a single error. At the plate she accumulated 82 hits including 11 doubles, two triples and 14 home runs. The lead off struck out only seven times and posted a .493 on-base percentage. She also added 26 stolen bases and 59 runs.
Chatfield made a significant impact in her freshman year launching 19 home runs. In her debut season with the Hokies, she started all 55 games, primarily at first base. Chatfield finished the year with 42 hits, 37 RBIs, and a .693 slugging percentage. She also ranked second on the team with 31 walks.
