OKLAHOMA CITY, OKC - Virginia Tech outfielder Emma Ritter was named a Top 26 Finalist for USA Softball's Collegiate Player Of The Year on Wednesday afternoon.
The USA Softball Collegiate Player Of The Year is considered the most prestigious individual honor in Division 1 softball. The top 10 finalists will be announced on May 15, followed by the top three set to be announced on May 20.
The 2024 USA Softball Collegiate Player Of The Year will be announced prior to the Women's College World Series, which is scheduled for May 30 through June 7 at the Softball Capital Of The World.
Ritter currently leads the ACC with 71 hits and 55 runs scored. This season she has posted a .421 batting average, 13 home runs, and 24 stolen bases. She also owned a 32-game on-base streak from February 18 to April 14.
This is the first time Ritter has been named a Top 26 Finalist, as she has been named on the Top 50 Watch List for the past two seasons. The senior was also named ACC Player Of The Week for the first time in her career on March 12.
