CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Virginia Tech field athlete Vlad Puchko has been named ACC Men's Field Perfomer and Rookie of the Week, announced the conference on Tuesday.
"It was a great performance by Vlad," said associate head coach Andrew Dubs. "I am very happy for him to have broken our school record, as this was one of his goals this season. He remained calm and focused on what he needed to do to execute his throws, one of his main goals all season. It is exciting to see him getting very consistent and we look forward to the rest of the season as we head into championships."
On Friday, Apr. 26, freshman Vlad Puchko recorded the best series of his career taking down the program record in discus with a mark of 61.90m (203' 1"), competing at the Drake Relays.
Puchko logged four throws over 60m (196' 9"), and three over 61m, claiming first as the only athlete in the discus champ section to throw over 60m in Des Moines.
Puchko sits sixth on the NCAA outdoor performance list as the only male in the ACC to have thrown over 203' 0" this season.
