VIENNA, W.Va. – Virginia Tech's Charlie Hanson and Daniel Azallion secured two of the four spots available at Monday's U.S. Open local qualifier at the par-73, 6,918-yard Parkersburg Country Club.

Hanson tied for the lowest round at the event, carding two eagles and three birdies en route to a 5-under 68. The Richmond, Va., native tied Joseph Kalaskey of South Charleston, W.Va., and Jake Sollon of Venetia, Pa. Azallion tied for fourth at 4-under 69 and had to outlast three other competitors in a playoff to lock up the final qualifying berth.

Those players who advance out of local qualifying will join a group of locally exempt players in final qualifying, which will be conducted over 36 holes. U.S. Open final qualifying will be held in England and Japan (May 20) and Canada (June 3) as well as 10 U.S. sites – one on May 20 and nine others on June 3.

The 124th U.S. Open will be contested on Pinehurst Resort and Country Club's Course No. 2, in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C., for the fourth time from June 13-16.
