WILMINGTON, N.C. – Virginia Tech women's golfer Valentine Delon fired the lowest 54-hole score at the ACC Championship in program history – 4-under 212 – to tie for seventh upon conclusion of Saturday's final round of stroke play at Porters Neck Country Club.
Delon's performance marked the third straight year a Hokie finished inside the tournament championship's top 10, joining Emily Mahar (2022) and Morgan Ketchum (2023). Carding a team-best 12 birdies over her 54 holes, Delon finished second in par-4 scoring at 3-under for the tournament. Her rounds of 69, 72 and 71 helped Tech have a chance at making match play.
Despite the Hokies placing eighth in the team standings at 9-over 873 (283-298-292), they closed the deficit for the final match play spot to one shot with five holes to go in Saturday's final round. In addition to Delon, Becca DiNunzio and Symone Henriques posted even-par 72s in the final round. Tech logged 41 birdies as a team, tied for the fourth-most in the 12-team field.
Wake Forest clinched the No. 1 seed for match play behind its impressive 23-under 841 (280-283-278). All five of the Deacs' golfers finished in the top 20, headlined by individual champion Rachel Kuehn at 10-under 206 (72-67-67). Kuehn posted a 3-shot victory over Clemson's Isabella Rawl and Virginia's Amanda Sambach.
The Deacs will face North Carolina in Sunday morning's first semifinal match, while Clemson and Virginia will square off in the second semifinal.
With the Cavaliers finishing ahead of the Hokies at the ACC Championships, Virginia receives one point in the Commonwealth Clash, presented by Smithfield. The score for the Commonwealth Clash currently is 11-6.5 in favor of Virginia. For more information, visit here.
