AIKEN, S.C. – Virginia Tech fifth-year student Daniel Azallion carded a 2-under 208 to tie for second at the Palmetto Intercollegiate, which concluded Tuesday at the par-70, 6,617-yard Palmetto Golf Club.

Azallion was one of three Hokies to place inside the top 20 of the individual leaderboard. Tech finished fifth as a team at 24-over 864 (283-291-290). A native of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Azallion carded five birdies – including four in a row – on holes 10-18 to grab ahold of the individual lead. However, a couple bogeys down the stretch dropped him into a tie for second. He fired rounds of 67, 73 and 68 to finish one shot behind individual medalist Rory McDonald O'Brien of USC Aiken.

Joining Azallion in the top 20 were Kobe Valociek and Charlie Hanson, who both tied for 18th at 6-over 216. Rahul Rajendran (224) and David Stanford (236) tied for 45th and placed 68th, respectively.

Davidson carded back-to-back rounds in red figures to reign as the tournament champion with a 5-over 845 (287-279-279). USC Aiken, the tournament host, was second at 11-over 851.

The Hokies return to action March 24-25 at the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C. The 54-hole event will be contested at the Country Club of Landfall.
