ORLANDO, Fla. – The Virginia Tech women's golf team placed eighth at the 2024 UCF Challenge, which finished play on Monday at Eagle Creek Golf Club (par 72, 6,367 yards).
Graduate student Becca DiNunzio led the Hokies, recording a top-25 performance. DiNunzio tied for 21st at 4-under 215 (72-70-73). DiNunzio tied for fifth in the field for par-3 scoring, ending at 1-under for those holes.
The Hokies led the tournament in pars, tallying 187 of them. Tech also came in fifth in par-4 scoring, thanks to freshman Valentine Delon's even-par performance on those holes.
Another notable performance came from junior Katherine Lemke, who carded her best 54-hole performance as a Hokie. She signed for an even-par 216 (77-70-69) to tie for 31st. The 70 and 69 in the final two rounds are her two best 18-hole scores at Tech.
As a team, the Hokies placed eighth at even-par 864 (289-289-286). North Carolina safely secured its second straight title of the season, scoring an 18-under 846 (279-280-287). Kansas followed in second with a 13-under 851 (287-285-279).
Texas Tech's Lauren Zaretsky came away with the individual win following a 13-under 203 (64-71-68) showing. Molly Smith from UCF scored a 2-under 70 on the final day to secure her second-place spot at 10-under 206 (68-68-70).
The Hokies play next at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Florida. The three-day tournament, hosted by Louisville, is Feb. 18-20 at Suntree Country Club.
