The Hokies are gearing up for an action-packed doubleheader weekend as both Virginia Tech Baseball and Softball take center stage in Blacksburg from Mar. 1-3. Softball is set to face off against Notre Dame at Tech Softball Park, while baseball will take on Stony Brook at English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park.
Both teams have had successful starts to their seasons, with softball boasting a 12-3-1 record, earning the No. 21 ranking. Highlight victories include an impressive 8-1 triumph against No. 24 Auburn and decisive wins against Illinois and Belmont during the Tiger Invitational.
Their performance at the Georgia Classic last weekend included a thrilling 5-4 win against No. 3 Georgia, along with shutout victories against Radford and Dartmouth. This upcoming series marks the team's home opening series for the 2024 season, following a victory against Elon in their inaugural home matchup.
The Hokies will face the Fighting Irish in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The series will conclude on Sunday at noon. All regular-season softball games are free to attend, and seating is general admission.
Following their clean sweep against Rhode Island in their home opening series, the baseball team has been dominating the series game, sporting a winning record of 5-2, hoping to continue its three-game winning streak against Stony Brook.
For their first game back of the 2024 season, the Hokies walked away with a 10-0 shutout win against the Charlotte 49ers and continued to reach double digits, crushing Rhode Island 18-3 in the first game of their series last weekend, and 14-3 for the last matchup.
The Hokies' games against the Seawolves are scheduled for Friday at noon, Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
All non-conference baseball games will remain free for the general public. However, the Hokies will face their first ACC opponent from Mar. 8th to 10th.
