Lemley dominant for Virginia Tech in shutout victory over Arizona State

TEMPE, AZ --Junior Emma Lemley was dealing on Friday, throwing a two-hit shutout to lead the No. 21/17 Virginia Tech Hokies over the Arizona State Sun Devils 9-0.

Lemley (1-0) went the distance for Virginia Tech (6-0-1), giving up two hits, walking two and striking out six.

In the batter's box, the Hokies were led by senior Addy Greene, who went 3-for-3 on the day with two doubles, a home run and three RBI. Senior Cameron Fagan put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Freshman Michelle Chatfield also chipped in for Virginia Tech, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding a home run, a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Virginia Tech's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a one-run single off the bat of freshman Emma Mazzarone.

The Hokies also added runs in the second, third, and fourth innings on the way to the 9-0 victory.
