Hokies earn 5-2 victory over Charlotte

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech (2-0, 0-0) defeated Charlotte, 5-2, to earn its second victory on Sunday morning. 

Tech earned the doubles point in two matches, clinching on court one, where Ryan Fishback and Maxime St. Hilaire took down Coy Simon and Matias Iturbe, 6-4. 

Once again, Alex Ix claimed the first singles victory for the Hokies, besting Coy Simon, 6-3, 7-5. No. 72 Ryan Fishback notched his second victory in as many matches with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Ivan Dreycopp. 

The clinching match would be on court two, where Maxime St. Hilaire took down Matias Iturbe, 6-4, 7-5. The fifth team point for the Hokies would come from Alberto Orso, who bested Frederic Schlossman, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, in a match that had numerous shifts in momentum. 

Matt Harper would fall in a single-set match to Alex Richards, 5-8, on court six. Hugo Maia dropped his match 4-6, 2-6, to Spencer Gray.
