BLACKSBURG – Beginning its competitive drive towards the 2024 season, the Virginia Tech baseball team announced on Friday its fall 2023 schedule, highlighted by a pair of exhibition games this October against Georgetown and Tennessee.
Virginia Tech will open fall action in Blacksburg on Friday, Oct. 13, when the Hokies welcome Georgetown to English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park. Ballpark entry is free to any and all fans while seating will be general admission.
After opening fall ball against the Hoyas, Tech will travel to the Volunteer State to square off against Tennessee during a neutral-site exhibition game at Tusculum University (Greeneville, Tennessee). General admission tickets to the Hokie-Smokey Classic at Pioneer Park are available for $10 online at tusculumpioneers.com/tickets or by walk-up hours at the Tusculum Athletic Department in Ranklin Hall (Room 109) from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Returning to campus that week, Virginia Tech will host its annual intrasquad Fall World Series from Friday, Oct. 27, to Sunday, Oct. 29, at English Field. Ballpark entry again will be free with open general admission seating to any and all fans.
Game times for Virginia Tech's fall baseball schedule will be released at a later date. Fall exhibition games may vary in length and format from traditional nine-inning contests at the discretion of both coaching staffs.
Virginia Tech won 30-plus games for the second consecutive season this spring and enters the 2023-24 athletic year riding its best two-year overall winning percentage achieved during its ACC tenure (.670). The Hokies are two seasons removed from hosting both the 2022 NCAA Blacksburg Regional and Super Regional at English Field.
