First Look: Virginia Tech vs. Pitt

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football is scheduled to play at home during primetime for the second time this season when it hosts Pitt on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on ACC Network.

During the contest, Virginia Tech Athletics will give recognition to servicemen and women with its Military Appreciation theme. Tickets to the game are currently sold out, but fans still interested in attending the game can purchase tickets on SeatGeek, the official secondary marketplace of Tech Athletics.

Fans are also encouraged to wear their white team gear to participate in the White Effect game. Be sure to get the official White Effect hat and White Effect shirt.

How to FollowTV: The game will be televised on ACC Network with Mike Monaco (play-by-play), Tim Hasselbeck (analyst) and Taylor Tannebaum (sideline) on the call.

Radio: The Virginia Tech Sports Network, including its flagship station 105.3 FM "The Bear" in Blacksburg, will carry the contest over the airwaves. Bill Roth will handle play-by-play duties while Mike Burnop provides color commentary and Zach Mackey reports from the sideline.

Two Things to KnowBreaking the series tie
Saturday's matchup will mark the 23rd game between Virginia Tech and Pitt. The teams have played one another every year since 2012, flipping venues each time. Overall, in series history, game results have been very close, with win totals of 11 for both programs. Diving deeper into the point totals for the matchups, Tech holds a slight edge, scoring 565 points to Pitt's 550 total points. Saturday's matchup will also feature an Effect Game for the second time following the Maroon Effect theme on Oct. 16, 2021.
 
ACC Huddle back in Blacksburg
The ACC Huddle show will make its way back to Blacksburg after providing live gameday coverage during the season opener against Old Dominion. Led by new host Kelsey Riggs, she will be joined by analysts Eric Mac Lain, EJ Manuel, Mark Richt and Tech alum Eddie Royal. Fans can view the production set in person as ACC Network begins coverage of the matchup on Friday in Cassell Circle. The show will also air throughout the day on Saturday, featuring a live segment at 2 p.m. and a primetime pregame show starting at 6:30 p.m. leading up to kickoff.

Players to WatchSTAR Keonta JenkinsA native of Jacksonville, Florida, Jenkins is a versatile player for defensive coordinator Chris Marve. Labeled as a 'STAR' in the Hokies' new-look defense, Jenkins can line up all over the field, whether at nickel, in the box or as a safety. This past weekend against Marshall, he finished with five total tackles and claimed the second interception of his career, picking off quarterback Cam Fancher in the third quarter. The senior defender also recorded his highest defensive grade (75.2) of the season, according to Pro Football Focus.
 
Wide Receiver Tucker HollowayNamed ACC Specialist of the Week on Nov. 7, 2022 after setting the program record for single-game punt return yardage with 188 against Georgia Tech, Holloway has continued to showcase his ability as a returner. The sophomore receiver currently leads the team in punt return yards (122) with an average of over 24 yards per return. His longest return so far this year went for 66 yards against Old Dominion, nearly scoring late in the fourth quarter.
 
Cornerback Dorian StrongStarting every game so far this season, teams have not tested Strong very often. In 121 pass coverage snaps, the redshirt junior has only been targeted eight times and has allowed just two receptions on the season. Primarily lining up outside at corner, Strong has amassed 58 total tackles and 16 pass breakups in his career. So far this season, the Upper Marlboro, Maryland native has recorded two breakups and an interception in the opener against Old Dominion.
