BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech junior tailback Bhayshul Tuten has been named to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award, which is presented annually to college football's best running back.

The award is named after SMU's three-time All-America running back Doak Walker.

The North Carolina A&T transfer rushed for 1,363 yards and 13 touchdowns on 208 carries during the 2022 season with the Aggies, averaging 6.6 yards per carry. His rushing performance was the fifth-best single-season rushing performance in A&T history and broke the school and conference records for consecutive 100-yard games in a season with ten.

He also added 31 receptions for 342 yards out of the backfield. Tuten was responsible for a total of 17 touchdowns on the season, including 13 rushing and four receiving. The Paulsboro, New Jersey native earned FCS third-team All-America honors, as well as All-Big South-first team honors.

The junior tailback was recognized as the highest-graded running back in the ACC by Pro Football Focus earlier this summer.

Watch Tuten suit up in maroon and orange by purchasing tickets to the season opener versus Old Dominion on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. ET.
