FINISHING STRONG
The Hokies look to collect their second conference victory this season behind the strong play of freshman Özlem Uslu. The Gebze, Turkey native has burst onto the scene in her first season in Blacksburg earning her first ACC honor last week as the conference's Freshman of the Week. She has posted a team-high 15 wins in 20 matches played with four ranked wins including a 6-1, 7-6(4) against No. 60 Natasha Subhash of Virginia this past weekend. Her performances have made her the Hokies only ranked singles player placed in this weeks ITA poll at No. 54.
DEMON DEACONS
Prior to this weekend the Demon Deacon visited Big Four foe Duke University on Thursday evening (April 6) in nearby Durham. The No. 6 Blue Devils ended victoriously in the contest on a 4-0 decision. Wake Forest made its way into Tar Heel territory on Saturday afternoon (April 8) to face No. 1 North Carolina inside of the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The host went on to stay undefeated in a 4-0 victory. Anna Brylin and Brook Killingsworth showed out in the contest, reeling in a ranked win over No. 22 Reese Brantmeier/Elizabeth Scotty. It was the duo's second such victory of the spring. Brylin/Killingsworth hold a 13-4 clip in 2023.
WOLFPACK
NC State come into this Sunday's match following a tremendous performance against the defending national championship team the No. 11 Texas Longhorns at home. The match resulted in a 5-2 victory for the Wolfpack three ranked wins in singles for Diana Shnaider, Alana Smith and Amelia Rajecki while doubles play boasted two ranked wins for Shnaider, Smith, Rajecki and Nell Miller. The ITA released updated doubles and singles rankings on April 11th which featured four Wolfpack members in singles and two pairs in doubles. Alana Smith tallied at No. 13 in singles, continuing to hold the highest singles rank out of her teammates.
