ATLANTA, GA -- Elizabeth Kitley secured a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds to help the Virginia Tech women's basketball team defeat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 65-52 on the road Sunday.
In addition to Kitley's solid showing, the Hokies (24-4, 14-4) were led by Kayana Traylor, who had 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists, and by Georgia Amoore, who added eight points, seven assists and two steals.
Virginia Tech shared the ball well in Sunday's game, racking up 16 assists on 26 made field goals. Amoore's seven assists paced the Hokies.
Virginia Tech's defense held Georgia Tech to only 38.2 percent shooting from the field. The Yellow Jackets did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with three offensive rebounds and managed seven second chance points while Virginia Tech cleared 31 defensive rebounds.

How It Happened
After falling behind 4-2, Virginia Tech went on a 7-0 run with 6:14 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Traylor, to take a 9-4 lead. The Hokies then added three points to that lead by the end of the period and entered the quarter break with an 18-10 advantage.
Virginia Tech kept its first quarter lead intact before going on an 11-0 run starting at the 4:47 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Kitley, to increase its lead to 37-19. The Yellow Jackets cut into that lead, but the Hokies still enjoyed a 37-25 advantage heading into halftime. Virginia Tech scored four of its 19 total points in the period on second chance opportunities created by pulling down three offensive rebounds.
Virginia Tech continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 7-0 run to expand its lead further to 49-33 with 4:09 to go in the third. The Hokies held onto that lead for the rest of the frame and entered the fourth quarter with a 56-40 edge.
The Hokies then held on for the victory in the fourth quarter. Virginia Tech took advantage of two Georgia Tech turnovers in the quarter, scoring three points off of those takeaways.
