BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech placekicker John Love has been named the state's Specialist of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond.
The redshirt freshman, who secured All-ACC Honorable Mention accolades this season, connected on 20 of 22 field goals and was a perfect 39-for-39 on PATs for a total of 99 points on the season through 12 games. His 90.9 percentage on field goals ranks eighth in the country.
The Spartanburg, South Carolina native nailed a career-long 47 yards in the 55-17 win over Virginia to cap the regular season.
Love will be featured in the Dudley and Lanier Awards show broadcast, airing locally in Richmond on WTVR-TV6, this Saturday, following the national broadcast (CBS) of the Army-Navy football game.
