BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men's soccer head coach Mike Brizendine announced the program's 2024 signing class on Wednesday.
MARK HYAN
Goalkeeper
Los Angeles, Calif.
Hyan joins the Hokies with a résumé that includes signing a USL Pro Academy contract with 2021 USL Championship winners Orange County SC in March of 2023. The 6-foot-3 California native attends Loyola High School, where he's also a standout kicker and punter for the football team. A member of the National Honor Society, Hyan intends to study Business at Virginia Tech. He's the son of Peter and Catherine Hyan, and has two brothers: Luke and Peter.
OLAFUR FLOKI STEPHENSEN

Stephensen joins Virginia Tech after playing for Valur FC, a club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. In 2019, the centerback was part of the Gothia Cup winning side, an international youth competition composed of over 1700 teams. A graduate of Fjolbrautarskolinn í Garðabae, he plans to study International Business at Tech. Stephensen's parents are Magnus Stephensen and Bergljot Thorsteinsdóttir, and he has two brothers: Kristofer and Hrafn.
TINO VASQUEZ
MIDFIELDER

Vasquez is the second player on a USL Pro Academy contract to join Tech's signing class, as the Illinois native penned a deal with Forward Madison in March, as well. In April, the former Chicago Fire academy product became the youngest player in club history to score a goal during his professional debut with Forward Madison. Vasquez has been called up by Mexico's u15 and u17 squads, but also holds the right to represent Greece or the United States, as well. The midfielder is the son of Armando and Anna Vasquez, and has one sister, Katerina. He plans to study Real Estate at Virginia Tech.
