BLACKSBURG – With aspirations set on reaching the program's first College World Series in the new year, Virginia Tech baseball head coach John Szefc pulled the curtain back on the Hokies' 2024 regular season schedule on Tuesday, revealing an appealing slate of 30-plus home games overlaid by another toilsome, 10-weekend run through the ACC.
Among its five premier ACC home weekends this spring, Virginia Tech will welcome Notre Dame (March 8-10), Pitt (March 29-31), Wake Forest (April 5-7), Duke (April 19-21) and Miami (May 10-12) into English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park. Tickets – to be made available at a later date – are required for entrance to any of the Hokies' five ACC home series.

Away from Blacksburg, Virginia Tech will make ACC trips to Louisville (March 15-17), Boston College (March 22-24), Georgia Tech (April 12-14), North Carolina (April 26-28) and Virginia (May 16-18). The Hokies' season-ending affair with their in-state rivals will mark the next chapter in the teams' annual Commonwealth Clash presented by Smithfield, during which Tech will pursue its third consecutive series win against the Cavaliers (2022, 2023).
At season's end, the league's top 12 finishers will advance to compete at the 2024 ACC Baseball Championship, as scheduled to take place between May 21 and May 26 (location to be announced).
Breaking down Virginia Tech's non-conference weekends, the Hokies will begin their 2024 campaign by returning a three-game road series at Charlotte (Feb. 16-18). Last season, Tech swept the 49ers (who advanced to the 2023 NCAA Clemson Regional) in three games at English Field, relying on Chris Cannizzaro's two-run, walk-off home run during the opening game to prevail, 13-11, in 10 innings.
Virginia Tech will entertain home series against Rhode Island (Feb. 23-25) and Stony Brook (March 1-3) during the beginning of the year in addition to bringing in Ohio (May 4-5) for a three-game series that fills the Hokies' bye weekend from ACC play. Historically, Tech will oppose both Rhode Island and Ohio for the first time since the 2013 season and stage its inaugural series meetings against Stony Brook – the second of three regional No. 4 seeds to have advanced to the College World Series all-time (2012).
Turning to midweek play, Virginia Tech will play home games against Binghamton (March 6), Marist (March 12), ETSU (March 19), Marshall (March 26), Liberty (April 10), Radford (April 16), George Mason (April 23) and James Madison (May 14). The Hokies will also return four regional home-and-home dates with James Madison (Feb. 20), Radford (Feb. 27), Marshall (April 2) and Liberty (May 8).
Considering Virginia Tech's 2024 schedule, the Hokies will contest 34 regular season games against opponents that ranked in the top 100 of the 2023 NCAA Division I RPI, including 18 conference games against top-20 opposition. Tech's 2024 slate is also weighted by 22 games against eight programs that qualified for the 2023 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship – two of which progressed to Omaha (Virginia, Wake Forest).
All dates and opponents listed on Virginia Tech's 2024 schedule are subject to change. Ticket information, along with game times and broadcast/streaming information, will be released at a later date.
