BLACKSBURG – Picking up from his phenomenal freshman campaign, Virginia Tech wrestling's sophomore sensation Caleb Henson was named week one' ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week after a dominant weekend at the Southeast Open in Salem, Virginia. Henson won his third SERTC Open title – winning as a high school senior in 2021, freshman in 2022, and this past Saturday for his third title – putting him on pace with another Georgia Hokie, Pete Yates, to claim four SERTC Open titles.
The returning All-American and ACC Champion ranked No. 4 at 149-pounds, Henson started the 2023-2024 season in commanding fashion with a 5-0 record amassing four-bonus point victories and a controlling victory over multiple-time NCAA qualifier and nationally-ranked Shannon Hanna of Campbell University. The Hokie went unscored on offensively all while racking up two falls each within the first two minutes of the bout, a 19-3 technical fall, a 11-3 major decision, and 5-1 decision.
