The Virginia Tech women's basketball team is ranked ninth in the AP Poll the organization announced Monday afternoon.

The Hokies are 5-1 on the season after a 2-0 trip to the Cayman Islands where they defeated Kansas and Tulane in the Cayman Islands Classic. Against Kansas, Elizbeth Kitley put up a stat line that no other ACC athlete has done in 25 years, scoring 31 points, recording 18 rebounds and five blocks. She became the first Hokie to have consecutive 30-point, 10-rebound performances. There are eight instances of a VT women's basketball player having a 30 and 10 game, Kitley owns three of them.

Saturday against Tulane, Georgia Amoore scored 24 points with 22 coming in the second half to help the Hokies rally from a halftime deficit to secure a 76-70 victory. Olivia Summiel scored a career-high 16 points off the bench, while Kitley (18) and Cayla King (11) were also in double figures.

The Hokies are in action next at No. 7 LSU in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday, Nov. 30. That game will tip at 9 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN. The game is a rematch of the Final Four game in March that the Tigers won after Tech held a lead heading into the fourth quarter. LSU would go on to win the national championship.

Tech is back home on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday, Dec. 6 for a 6 p.m. tip against the LIU Sharks. That game can be seen on ACC Network Extra. Ticket packages are available HERE.
