TAMPA, Fla. – Wide receiver Da'Quan Felton has earned Shrine Bowl offensive breakout player of the week honors for his performance in Saturday's 55-17 win over Virginia, the East-West Shrine Bowl announced on Monday.
The Portsmouth, Virginia native had three receptions for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Both of Felton's touchdowns came in the third quarter, the first of which was an 84-yard score and Tech's longest offensive play of the season. His second touchdown came from 34 yards out after the Norfolk State transfer carried two Virginia defenders into the endzone.
Felton's production marked his second game with 100+ receiving yards and his second consecutive game with two touchdowns. The redshirt senior led Tech in receiving yards in the last four games and has four touchdowns for at least 54 yards this season.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is the longest-running college all-star football game in the nation. The event gives top college players a chance to showcase their talents to NFL scouts and a national television audience. Since its inception in 1925, the game and its activations benefit Shriners Children, which provides specialty care for youth patients.
