Elizabeth Kitley the ACC’s Player of the Week

Opens in a new window Pledge Per Three (WBB)

CHARLOTTE – Virginia Tech center Elizabeth Kitley earned ACC Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon. For the graduate student, it is her tenth time winning the award in her illustrious career and she has now received the accolade in four consecutive seasons.

Last week she averaged better than 26 points per game and 12 rebounds, helping the Hokies to three victories. In consecutive games she recorded 30 points and 10 or more rebounds, becoming the first VT athlete in program history to do so. Against Kansas, she put up a stat line that no other ACC athlete has done in 25 years, scoring 31 points, recording 18 rebounds and five blocks. There are eight instances of a VT women's basketball player having a 30 and 10 game, Kitley owns three of them.

The Hokies are in action next at No. 7 LSU in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday, Nov. 30. That game will tip at 9 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN. The game is a rematch of the Final Four game in March that the Tigers won after Tech held a lead heading into the fourth quarter. LSU would go on to win the national championship.

Tech is back home on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday, Dec. 6 for a 6 p.m. tip against the LIU Sharks. That game can be seen on ACC Network Extra. Ticket packages are available HERE.
