BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Tucker Holloway will wear the No. 25 jersey during the regular season finale versus Virginia. Saturday's Smithfield Commonwealth Clash will be Holloway's second time being selected to carry on Frank Beamer's iconic legacy.

The sophomore wide receiver wore No. 25 for the first-time last season against Duke. Holloway's selection came after his 188 punt return yards and touchdown return against Georgia Tech, where he set the program record for most punt return yardage in a single game.

"Being here a whole another year, and given the fact it's UVA, it means so much more to me," Holloway said. "Just being able to wear 25, but also to be standing next to the namesake of what it means to wear that No. 25, it's special to me."

Holloway has 259 punt return yards on 16 attempts this season. His first return in the season opener, versus Old Dominion, nearly went for a touchdown as he ran 66 yards down the visitor sideline. The return specialist also ripped off a 57-yard return in Tech's 38-10 thwarting over Syracuse.

Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
