The Virginia Tech football team has returned home for the final game of the season in Lane Stadium, surrounded by an electric crowd. The Hokies are currently trailing 21-7 against NC State heading into the second half.
 
In a closely-contested match with the Wolfpack, the Tech offense continues to improve on every play. Kyron Drones showcased his versatility as a quarterback, combining an 11-yard rush in the first quarter with a 13-yard rush to start off the second. Tight end Dae'Quan Wright leads Virginia Tech in receiving yards, accumulating 11 yards, with his longest reception measuring eight yards.
 
Nearing the end of the second quarter, running back Bhayshul Tuten dominated with his 50-yard punt return to set up wide receiver Xayvion Turner-Bradshaw's first career touchdown and third career rush. Drones executed a handoff to Turner-Bradshaw, who registered a 47-yard rushing touchdown in just 11 seconds on the first play, tying the game.
 
The Tech defense has made an impressive start, with star Keonta Jenkins registering four tackles, including one for a loss of two yards. Linebacker Alan Tisdale currently leads Virginia Tech with five tackles. Defensive lineman C.J. McCray recorded a quarterback hurry in the first quarter, while cornerback Dorian Strong demonstrated tight coverage, resulting in a crucial pass breakup during the second quarter. Derrick Canteen also contributed with a pass breakup to finish up the first half. As a result, Wolfpack quarterback Brennan Armstrong has been held to only 105 yards of offense.
