BLACKSBURG, VA -- Georgia Amoore collected 16 assists, and the Virginia Tech women's basketball team knocked off the Houston Christian Huskies 105-36 at home Thursday. Not only a career-high, that assist total is a program record for a single contest.

The Hokies (2-1) had six players score in double figures, led by Elizabeth Kitley, who had 23 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Clara Strack added 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocks from the bench and Rose Micheaux chipped in as well with 12 points and six rebounds.

Strack pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Virginia Tech, grabbing 12 boards and turning them into 22 second chance points.

Virginia Tech did a great job disrupting Houston Christian shots in the contest, with four individual players coming away with two blocks, contributing to a total of 11 team blocks.

The 69-point margin is a program record and the 105 points scored matched a record for a game at Cassell.

The Hokies kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 26-0 run starting at the 9:39 mark in the second period to increase its lead to 56-16. Following intermission, Virginia Tech continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 64-25 before going on a 13-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Strack, to expand its lead further to 77-25 with 3:48 to go in the third. Before the third period was over, the Hokies added seven points to that lead and entered the fourth quarter with a 88-29 edge. Virginia Tech's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled 13 of the team's 27 third-quarter points.

Virginia Tech started tacking on points in the fourth almost immediately, going on a 10-0 run to grow the lead to 98-29 with 6:14 to go in the contest.
