Opens in a new window Roster

As the Hokies approach the 2024 season, get to know the newest faces on Virginia Tech lacrosse.
 MIA POZZI
Midfield
Baldwinsville, New York
Charles W. Baker High School

Why did you choose to commit to Tech? I knew I had found my home when I stepped on campus. It took me awhile to find the school that fit me, but I felt valued and appreciated by all the players and staff in the program, so I knew I had found the right fit when I came to VT.

Besides midfield, do you expect to contribute to the team in other positions? While midfield is my main position, I can be a two-way midfielder and will help the team wherever I am needed. In addition, I also usually take the draw.

What are your academic goals while at Virginia Tech? Right now I am business undecided, but my goal is to eventually go to law school.

What made you decide you wanted to continue lacrosse in college?
It was the year we won the Class A New York state championship game [that] I knew for sure I wanted to play in college. I loved the feeling I got after that game; it was super thrilling and made me ready to roll with playing the game at the next level.

Is there a game in the spring you have circled on the calendar that you're already anticipating? Absolutely the UVA game. I am really competitive and I hate losing to rival schools, so I'm looking forward to that game and seeing our improvement throughout the year.

What would you say your biggest strength as a player is? My positive mindset and determination are my biggest strengths. I have a win-at-all-costs mentality when it comes to competition, and I plan to bring that energy to every practice and game this season and contribute to our positive yet competitive team atmosphere.

What is the best part about practices so far? The competitive Orange vs. Maroon games are my favorite part. Anything we do in those teams makes practice competitive every day which is super important. The fact we mix it up and do things like kickball and then also lacrosse related drills helps keep things unexpected and fun. I am also on the orange team the entire time I'm at Virginia Tech.

What is a random fun fact about you? Besides lacrosse, I also did competitive ski racing the majority of my life
