"We are extremely excited to add Ashleigh to our program and to be apart of the Virginia Tech women's soccer family ," said head coach Chugger Adair. "She is a tremendous soccer player, with a great personality, who we see having a defensive presence but can play in the midfield as well. She has the ability to get forward from the back and to initiate the attack."
Why did you choose Tech? I enjoyed the team and coaching atmosphere at Virginia Tech. The team is like a close-knit family, everyone supports one another. The campus culture itself is very welcoming and inviting. It felt like the right fit for me to develop as an athlete, teammate, and student! Additionally, the opportunity to compete against other top players and teams in the conference will help me grow to become a better athlete!
What was your favorite thing about your visit? My favorite part about my visit was meeting the incoming freshmen class and current team. The team made us all feel very welcomed and a part of the team already! It was fun to just meet and get to know them in person, before we arrive in 2024.
What do you like about the Tech women's soccer program? The coaching staff and facilities at Tech will help prepare me to be the best player I can be in the best conference for women's soccer. The energy and vibe of the team will enhance our development to push each other and work hard.
What are your soccer strengths? Due to playing various positions on the field (both offensive and defensive), I am very versatile, and able to see the game from different points of view. This allows me to have a better game understanding and anticipate my opponents actions, as well as my teammates. In addition, I am very strong, fast, and able to utilize both feet.
Who is your favorite pro player (why)? Crystal Dunn, because of her ability to go up the field as a defender and take control of the game by joining in on the attack. Opponents have a hard time getting past her due to her quick speed and strength! (like me)
What is your most memorable soccer moment (why)? Making my penalty kick in the semi-final shootout to go up 3-2 at the GA National Championships. Followed by our goalie saving their penalty kick and my teammate making her shot. We all heaped into a huge dog pile, pumped and excited for the final game, after a hard battle.
What do you think you will major in? I plan to major in marketing management.
What is one thing you would want Tech fans to know about you? I can and have played every position on the field except goalie!
