BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech softball and head coach Pete D'Amour announced the additions of Reagan Troy, Nora Abromavage, Jayden Jones, Jordan Lynch, Charlotte Moore, Mattie Jane Abernathy, and Bree Carrico to the 2024 signing class.
"We'd like to welcome these seven ladies and their families to Virginia Tech," D'Amour said of the class. "There's a lot of athleticism in this class and more importantly, all seven of these ladies fit what we were looking for from a competitive and cultural standpoint. They're coming to Blacksburg with a hunger to win and compete. They love Virginia Tech. I'd like to thank Coach Lewis for all of his hard work during the recruiting process. We're looking forward to adding all seven players and their families to our Hokie family."
Reagan Troy
Ashburn, VA / Broad Run High School / Pitcher
Recording 173 strikeouts in 129.1 innings at Broad Run High School, Reagan Troy joins the Hokies ranked 31st in the 2024 class. Troy was a four-year varsity starter at Broad Run High School, where she was named captain for three years. In 2023, Troy earned First Team All-Dulles District Honors and Second Team All-Region Honors as a junior pitcher. In her freshman year at Broad Run, Troy was named Rookie of the Year and earned the batting title. Troy has played with Rock Gold NOVA since 10u and has worked her way up to play with the 18u team. While playing for the Rock Gold 16u, the team finished in the Top 10 in the USA Golds.
Nora Abromavage
Fairfax Station, VA / Lake Braddock Secondary School / Outfield
Helping lead Lake Braddock to the Virginia state quarterfinals, Nora Abromavage signs with the Hokies as a four-year letter winner. During the 2023 season, Abromavage was a First Team All-District and All-Region award winner. She was also named to the Washington Post All-Met team as an honorable mention recipient. She helped her team win the regular season district title, district tournament title, and regional championship. In 2022, she earned First Team All-District and All-Region. During the 2021 season she was named to the All-District First Team. She is currently ranked 37th in the Extra Innings Elite 100. She is also on the Alliance Early Watchlist for the Class of 2024. Abromavage is also a two-time USSSA Select 30 All-American.
Jayden Jones
Gaylord, MI / Gaylord High School / Utility
Jayden Jones joins Hokie Nation ranked sixth by Extra Innings in the Class of 2024 Extra Elite 100. Jones is a 2023 state champion and two-time MVP for Gaylord as she makes an impact in the circle and at the plate. In 2023, in 10 starts she owned a 0.29 ERA with 66 strikeouts. During her junior year she earned first team All-State, All-Conference, All-District, and All-Region as a utility player. In her freshman and sophomore year combined she posted a .530 batting average, 105 RBI, 29 doubles, 17 triples, and 24 home runs.
Jordan Lynch
Rising Sun, MD / Rising Sun High School / Utility
Lynch is ranked tenth in the Class of 2024 by Extra Innings. She held a .650 batting average and led her team, Rising Sun High School, to a state championship. 2022 was a big year for Lynch as she led Rising Sun to a state runner up trophy and was named the Cecil Whig All-County Player of the Year. She posted a .600 batting average and 22 RBI. Lynch has played for Lady Dukes for the past six years, and in 2022 she was named a PGF All-American.
Charlotte Moore
Ashburn, VA / Riverside High School / Outfield/First Base
A three-year letter winner at Riverside High, Moore helped lead her team to the Class 4 semifinals by batting a .446 average. She tied the VHSL record with 17 home runs. She is also the VHSL RBI queen as she set the record for 61 RBI. In 2023, she racked up First Team All-State, First Team All-Region, First Team All-Potomac District, and Second Team All-Met honors. In 2022, as an outfielder, Moore received First Team All-District and First Team All-Region.
Mattie Jane Abernathy
Jackson, TN / Trinity Christian Academy / Infielder
Abernathy has won three varsity letters at Trinity Christian Academy. She also earned the Miss Softball Award and Student-Athlete Award of Merit.
Bree Carrico
Appomattox, VA / Appomattox County High School / Pitcher
A right handed pitcher, Carrico is ranked 48th by Extra Innings Softball for the Class of 2024. In her junior season she helped lead Appomattox to a Class 2 state championship. She threw two combined no hitters, two complete games, and four shutouts. Opposing batters had a .122 batting average against her.
