Hokies fall to Boston College 3-0 Sunday afternoon

CHESTNUT HILL, MA --The Virginia Tech volleyball team could not overcome an opposing Eagles offense Sunday on the road losing to Boston College in straight sets (19-25, 19-25, 17-25).

The loss dropped Virginia Tech's record to 11-6 overall and 1-5 in ACC action.

Leandra Mangual-Duran finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Hokies attack. Ten digs from Iliana Rodriguez led the Hokies defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Hokies found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-19. Virginia Tech trailed by as many as six points as Boston College grabbed the advantage for good at 9-8 in a set that was knotted up six times before the Eagles took control.

SET 2 | A 25-19 second-set loss put Virginia Tech behind 2-0 in the match. The Hokies fell behind from the start and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.

SET 3 | Boston College finished off the sweep with a set-three victory. The Hokies fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set 25-17.

The Hokies' next contest is on Wednesday, October 11 at Wake Forest at 7 p.m.
