BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football spoke with the local media following its practice on Wednesday. Head coach Brent Pry touched on the practices throughout the week, with quarterbacks coach Tyler Bowen and Kyron Drones speaking on the game planning from the offense.

Read below to see what they had to say.

Head Coach Brent Pry

On the practice intensity this week:
"I think it's been another good week of practice. Last week was our best week, and I think this week is right there with it. I like the play selection. I like the guys that are getting the ball. I like the hustle, the energy, you know, Kyron threw the ball well today."

Offensive Coordinator Tyler Bowen

On the gameplan to establish the run versus Pitt:
"I think you want to have balance. And what balance means to me, I think I've said this before, it means you're able to do what you need to do to win the game, right? If that calls on you to throw it multiple times or run it multiple times. I think when we're able to complement each other, we were able to complement the defense really well. Defense was able to complement us really well. We were able to stay in the flow of the game. That's what we want to be able to do. We've talked about getting the run game going, and I think we were able to stick with that. And certainly helped us, right? Open up some throw game later in the game, helped it become a little bit easier for everyone from that standpoint."

Quarterback Kyron Drones

On his comfort level running the offense:
"I've grown tremendously, just my comfort level and my confidence, just me getting better each week. I feel like everybody just gets better with the amount of reps they get and I know that's me. For me to get better, I'm not like a just look at something and try to learn it guy. I'm a person that learns when I'm in the process. So, I feel like it's just getting better each week."
