BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football met with the local media for its weekly press conference to discuss Saturday's contest at Florida State. Head coach Brent Pry stepped to the podium first, followed by defensive players Keonta Jenkins and Pheldarius Payne.

Read below to see what they had to say.

Head Coach Brent Pry

Opening statement on Pitt victory:
"But it was our most complete effort of the season. When you go back and look at the film on Sunday and just, we did more things that align with winning. And not that we didn't have mistakes, but we did, it was a complete effort. And I thought we finished. We started fast, we finished. We handled adversity in between. There was just a lot of things that occurred that, you know, are signs of a good team. And when you do those things, you got a pretty darn good chance of winning."

On Wells' availability impacting starter decision:
"We got to see what kind of week Grant has. He's got to get well, but obviously, I'm super excited. And so is the staff about the game that Kyron played and the progress he made from the previous week to this week. I'm anxious to go see him play again and play well. We got to put a great plan together for him and he's got to execute it."

STAR Keonta Jenkins

On needing to stop the run:
"It's our mentality. Knowing that we have to stop the run in order for us to win games or for our offense to get the ball more times, we have to stop the run. And we determined ourselves all week to do that and Saturday that's what we did."

Defensive Lineman Pheldarius Payne

On his passion for the game:
"I just like being around my brothers like the D-Line and the defense as a whole. I really be forgetting about the plays because I be going throughout the game. And I just like when Worm got the sack, it was just, it was amazing. When him and Twuan got in there together. I think those are stuff that really like impact me. And I'm like, I love being out there. That's what really, really hits home."
