DURHAM, N.C. – Virginia Tech fell 7-1 to No. 8 Duke on Friday night.
After going down a goal in the 20th minute, freshman Marcos Escoe equalized for the Hokies with a 37th-minute goal. The two sides went into the break tied 1-1.
The Blue Devils went up 3-1 with two goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half then matters were made worse for Tech when they went down to 10 men.
Duke added on four more goals before the end of regulation.
Virginia Tech will enter the ACC Tournament next week as the No. 10 seed and will face No. 7 seed North Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
