Maltese's first career brace delivers Tech 3-0 victory against Miami

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech closed out the home portion of their schedule at Thompson Field on Sunday by dominating the Miami Hurricanes 3-0.

The Hokies improved their record to 7-7-3 (4-5 ACC), while Miami dropped to 3-9-4 (2-6-1 ACC). Sunday's win over the Hurricanes puts Tech into seventh in the ACC, one point behind Wake Forest (13) as the season draws to a close on Thursday.

"I'm pleased with the result today," said head coach Chugger Adair. "The ladies played well from start to finish controlling most of the match and were able to put three in the back of the net. I'm proud of the group, and happy for the seniors to be able to go out on a 3-0 shutout at Thompson Field. We are excited to get on the road to play Pitt as we look towards the ACC or NCAA tournament."
