Hokies drop 1-0 battle to Duke

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Duke  on Thursday, Oct. 19 at Thompson Field. 

The Hokies' record falls to 6-7-3 (3-5 ACC), as the Blue Devils rise to 6-5-3 (2-3-3 ACC).

How it Happened
Duke's Phoebe Goldthwaite scored the lone goal of the match in 26th minute, giving the Blue Devils their second conference win of the season. 

Tech struggled to attack in the first half recording zero shots in the first 45 minutes of play.

The Hokies logged their first shot of the game in the 72nd minute versus the Blue Devils.

  • Goalkeeper Alia Skinner recorded four saves. 
  • Sophie Maltese led the Hokies with two shots. 
  • The Hokies were challenged by a 13-4 shot deficit. 
  • Tech has remained scoreless in their last three matchups.
