Women's soccer drops match 3-0 at rival Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Tech women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 15 at  Klöckner Stadium. 

The Hokies' record falls to 6-6-3 (3-4 ACC), as the Cavaliers climb to 6-3-5 (1-3-3 ACC).

How it Happened
Virginia's Chloe Japic netted the first goal of the match giving the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. 

The Hokies headed into the locker room down by one, logging five shots in the first 45 minutes. 

The Cavaliers carried the match in the second half increasing their lead 2-0 in the 58th minute. Maggie Cagle would lock in the match for Virginia scoring in the 64th minute, 3-0.  

Tech struggled to make into the Cavaliers' box recording only two shots on goal in the full 90 minutes of play. Virginia claimed its first conference win of the season.

  • Goalkeeper Alia Skinner tallied a season high nine saves. 
  • Samantha DeGuzman lead the Hokies in shots with four. 
  • The Hokies were challenged by a 19-8 shot deficit. 
  • The Cavaliers won their first ACC match of the season.
