Virginia Tech football will host Wake Forest on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET for this year's Homecoming game at Lane Stadium.
 
Saturday's contest will be the Hokies' annual Maroon Effect game. Fans are encouraged to wear their maroon team gear and can order this year's official Maroon Effect shirt online. Tickets to the game are currently sold out, but fans still interested in attending the game can purchase tickets on SeatGeek, the official secondary marketplace of Tech Athletics.
 
The Hokies and the Demons Deacons have a history dating back to 1916, with the Hokies' leading the series 25-13. This will be their first home matchup since 2019.

Nov. 9, 2019 ­– Virginia Tech 36, Wake Forest 17 (Blacksburg, Va.)
In a thrilling ACC matchup, the Virginia Tech football team upset No. 22 Wake Forest 36-17, marking their first home victory against a ranked opponent since 2009 against Miami. Quarterback Hendon Hooker showcased his dual-threat abilities by completing 15 of 24 passes for 242 yards. Hooker also rushed 69 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown at 4:38, effectively sealing the Hokies' win. Running back Deshawn McClease was another standout performer, finding the end zone on back-to-back possessions in the third quarter, owning 59 of the Hokies' 228 rushing yards. Wide receiver Tre Turner amassed a career-high 73 rushing yards on just four carries, including a career-long 57-yard run. The Virginia Tech defense dominated the game, holding Wake Forest to season-lows in both yards and points. The Hokies forced two critical turnovers, with both defensive lineman Emmanuel Belmar and defensive back Chamarri Conner making their mark with impressive sacks.

During the tenure of the legendary coach Frank Beamer, the Virginia Tech football team secured a resounding 38-17 victory in the ACC against Wake Forest at BB&T Field. Quarterback Logan Thomas showcased his skills by completing 17 of 32 passes for 280 yards, with two touchdowns to his name. Thomas played a pivotal role in the game, accounting for a total of four touchdowns, primarily connecting with Jarrett Boykin on multiple drives. Boykin himself had a standout performance, amassing a career-high 149 receiving yards on seven catches, which included a 20-yard touchdown reception. The Hokies also demonstrated their dominance in the running game, with running back David Wilson amassing an impressive 136 yards on 17 carries while scoring a touchdown. On the defensive front, the Hokies held the Demon Deacon offense to just one touchdown and secured an interception by linebacker Tariq Edwards.
