BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men's soccer announced three new signings as part of its 2023 class, along with three mid-year additions into the program on Monday.
Ethan Czaporowski, Nick Laffey and Noe Uwimana make up the crew that will join the Hokies in the fall from high school. Marcos Escoe, Ethan Hackenberg and Marco Vesterholm have joined the program ahead of the spring offseason training.

Czaporowski joins Tech with state-champion pedigree after playing for Belchertown High School. In 2019, he lifted the state title with his school while being named team MVP and player of the year in his freshman campaign. Outside of school, Czaporowski has played for MLS Next side Boston Bolts.

Laffey joins Tech as a well-decorated goalscorer from the D.C. area. In a season that saw St. John's College High School finish as state runner-ups, he was named the 2021 D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year, along with first team All-Met and the 2021 WCAC Player of the Year. Laffey plays for the MLS Next side Baltimor Armour.

Uwimana continues a trend of Philadelphia Union youth talent heading to Blacksburg following his graduation from the YSC Academy. The Austin, Texas native was part of the Philadelphia Union side that claimed the MLS Next Cup in 2022 with a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew. Along with experience in the youth system, Uwimana has trained with Philadelphia's first team.

Marcos Escoe joins Tech after competing for C.S. Herediano, a side that competes in Costa Rica's first division. A historic club, Herediano owns 29 league titles, which is third-most in league history. Escoe has worked his way up through the team's youth system before making his first team debut last fall.

Hackenberg joins Tech following stints with Coastal Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast and CCBC Essex. At his most recent stop with CCBC Essex, the Pennsylvania native had a spectacular season, netting 16 goals and distributing 12 assists, in his United Soccer Coaches All-American campaign. In two seasons with Coastal Carolina, Hackenberg scored twice – both being game-winning goals.

Vesterholm joins the Hokies after four seasons with Elon, in which he started 35 games for the Phoenix, including a 2022 NCAA Tournament fixture. The Danish midfielder scored once and registered three assists with Elon. In 2021, Vesterholm received the Team Leadership Award. Prior to arriving on the college soccer scene, he captained four youth sides for Randers FC.
