BLACKSBURG – Rain or shine, Virginia Tech football heads into its second home game of the 2023 season following a rain delay, tied with Purdue 17-17 in a head-to-head game.

Despite weather complications, the Hokies stood tall the first 30 minutes. Linebacker Alan Tisdale completed his first sack of the season, causing Purdue a loss of 8-yards in the first quarter. Fellow Linebacker Keli Lawson tied his career high of 7 tackles against the Boilermakers offense.

On the other side of the ball, running back Bhayshul Tuten completed a 30-yard touchdown for the first score of the game to start the second quarter, following his 29-yard punt return. Kicker John Love also impressed, knocking out a 41-yard field goal.

Grant Wells threw his second touchdown of the night to wide receiver Jaylin Lane, with a 2-yard pass in the last 10 seconds of the first half. This marks Lane's third consecutive game with a receiving touchdown.

The Hokies will get the ball to start the second half.Gallery: (9-9-2023) FB: First half vs. Perdue
