BETHLEHEM, PA --The Virginia Tech volleyball team needed only three sets (25-23, 25-22, 25-21) to beat the Delaware State Hornets Friday at Grace Hall.
The win improved Virginia Tech's overall record to 8-0 on the season, just one victoory shy of tying the program record oof nine straight wins to begin a season set back in 2009.
The Hokies offense was paced by Leandra Mangual-Duran, who finished with 17 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .536, and by Ava Francis, who had 14 while hitting .609. got 15 digs from Iliana Rodriguez along with six blocks from Jasmine Robinson to lead them defensively.
Borer, who recorded 39 assists, a season-high reached 1,000 for her career in that category.

SET 1 | The Hokies took control on the first point and never looked back to win the first set 25-23. Virginia Tech led by five points at 9-4 before finishing off the set, totaling 17 kills in the process. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked six Delaware State attacks in the set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Virginia Tech put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-22 victory in set number two. The Hokies took the set thanks to a solid showing on the attacking side. Virginia Tech put together a .324 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set win. The Hokies rallied from down five at 9-4 to grab the win.
SET 3 | Virginia Tech took the third set to finish off the match. The Hokies took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to secure a 25-21 victory. Virginia Tech opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 16-6 before finishing off the set. Virginia Tech's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking six Delaware State attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 10 Delaware State attacking errors on the way to victory.
