Hokies fall to No. 11 Georgia Tech Friday afternoon

BLACKSBURG --The Virginia Tech volleyball team could not overcome an opposing Yellow Jackets offense Friday at home losing to Georgia Tech in straight sets (16-25, 14-25, 21-25).

The loss dropped Virginia Tech's record to 10-4 overall and 0-3 in ACC play.

Ava Francis finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Hokies' attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .333. The Hokies got nine digs from Hanna Borer to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Hokies found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-16. Virginia Tech trailed by as many as nine points as Georgia Tech grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was tied up five times before the Yellow Jackets took control.

SET 2 | Virginia Tech fell in the second set 25-14, finding themselves a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Hokies dropped the first point and never regained the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | Virginia Tech could not win the third set and was swept by Georgia Tech. The Hokies came up short by the score of 25-21. Virginia Tech trailed by as many as six points as Georgia Tech grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 in a set that was knotted up 10 times before the Yellow Jackets took over the lead.
