DURHAM, N.C. – Virginia Tech placed ninth at the Rod Myers Invitational that concluded Monday afternoon at Duke University Golf Club (par 72, 7,154 yards).
Daniel Azallion, Kobe Valociek, Charlie Hanson, David Stanford, Mehrbaan Singh, and Balthazar Duclos were all competing for the Hokies this weekend, with Duclos playing as an individual. Singh, a sophomore from Alexandria, Va., led the Tech contingent at 4-over 220 (74-70-76). Azallion and Valociek tied for 26th at 5-over 221.
The Hokies fired rounds of 298, 291 and 304 to compile an 893. Tournament host Duke placed first with an 8-under 856 (278-291-287), followed by Louisville in second at 3-under 861 (293-278-290).
Sebastian Moss of Louisville topped the individual leaderboard at 11-under 205 (73-64-68).
The Hokies are next in action at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, Tenn. The three-day event runs Oct. 8-10 at Blackthorn Club.
