NEWTON, Mass. – Powered by Natalie Mitchell's brace in the 71st minute, Virginia Tech downed the Eagles 2-1 in Newton, Mass. on Thursday, Sept. 21.
Virginia Tech's record improves to 4-3-3 (1-1 ACC), while Boston College drops to 3-5-2 (0-2 ACC).
"I am excited that we got a very difficult road win tonight," said head coach Chugger Adair. "The women were able to turn the tide of the game in the second half and I'm pleased with how well the group came together. Mitchell came up big for us today and helped us put the game away with two goals. It was a total team effort tonight for the women and we're happy with the result."
How it Happened
Sophomore Natalie Mitchell came out strong for the Hokies scoring the first goal of the match in the sixth minute with a cross from Emma Pelkowski.
The Eagles' Ella Richards responded in the 14th minute shooting the ball past Alia Skinner. Hokies headed into the locker room at halftime 1-1 with a 5-6 shot deficit.
Virginia Tech turned the tide in second taking four shots and five corner kicks against the Eagles. Mitchell chipped the ball over the goalkeeper's head in the 71st minute to give the Hokies their first ACC victory of the season, 2-1.

The Hokies remain on the road this weekend as they head towards Syracuse, N.Y. on Sunday to face the Orange 2-7-1 (0-2 ACC).
