Writing HERstory: Volleyball program off to historic 10-0 start

Virginia Tech's volleyball team defeated Queens 3-1 on Friday, clinching its 10th victory of the season on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum.

The Hokies remain undefeated, showcasing exceptional performances from their All-Tournament players, achieving seven shutouts and becoming the first volleyball team in Virginia Tech history to accomplish a 10-0 record.
 
WEEK 1
Taking on Morgan State, the Hokies earned their ninth straight season-opening win since 2014. Following this match, Tech went on to defeat Quinnipiac and Furman to win the Hokies Invitational 3-0. Hanna Borer finished the tournament with 89 total assists. Sydney Peterson was named MVP, while Mangual Duran and Hailey Pearce were named to the All-Tournament team.
 
WEEK 2
The Hokies traveled to Ohio for the Toledo Invitational and won all three matches against Memphis, Toledo and Youngstown. Tech headed home with a 6-0 record, its best start to a season since 2018. Borer, Ilianna Rodriguez and Cara Lewis were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Borer being named MVP.
 
WEEK 3
Continuing its hot start, Tech defeated Lehigh, Delaware State and FDU to finish the Steel Classic 9-0. This was only the second time in school history the Hokies were undefeated through nine matches to start the season. Following the final match against FDU, Lewis, Borer and Mangual Duran were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Writing HERstory Campaign
Tech Athletics launched a multi-platform brand campaign celebrating the incredible achievements of its female student-athletes, both past and present, while inspiring the next generation of women who aspire to achieve their dreams through athletics.
