BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Kyle Lowe will wear the No. 25 jersey during the road matchup against Rutgers.

Saturday will be Lowe's second time in his career that he wears the iconic number. The Midlothian, Virginia native joins safety Nasir Peoples as the only players on the roster to be selected to wear the No. 25 jersey twice.

"It's an honor to wear 25 this week against Rutgers. Anytime we get the chance to represent Coach Beamer's legacy left behind here at Virginia Tech, is super special" Beck said. "I want to thank Coach Holt and Coach Pry and the rest of the staff for this tremendous opportunity".

Lowe has primarily handled kickoff duties this season and has nine touchbacks on 11 attempts, building off his first year of game action in 2022. Last season, the redshirt junior averaged 62.9 yards per kickoff with 68% of attempts registered as a touchback.

Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
