BLACKSBURG – Following their practice on Wednesday, Virginia Tech football met with local media to discuss their preparation for Rutgers. Head coach Brent Pry started the media availability, followed by Chris Marve, Jaylen Jones and Da'Wain Lofton.

Read below to see what they had to say.

Head Coach Brent Pry

On Kyron Drones potentially playing more in-game against Rutgers:
"I keep saying this and I think he needs to, regardless of Grant's situation. I think Kyron needs to play some significant snaps and we've talked about it and how we do it. He's had a good week of practice. This is the most work he's gotten with the ones since camp. So, it's good that way."

Defensive Coordinator Chris Marve

On Alan Tisdale calling him a role model and what he tells him over phone calls:
"When [Tisdale] calls, I am who I am. I'm authentically Chris Marve on the field and off the field. So, when those conversations occur, they're transparent, they're direct. And I just try to frame things and give him perspective. Because I think all of us, when we were 22-23, none of us had the perspective that we have right now. In terms of life or anything. We may have thought that we did, but I just try to get him to see the long view. We try to get him to see things from a different perspective than he currently has and just try to work through things."

Safety Jaylen Jones

On opponents testing him after switching positions:
"Like you said, I'm the new guy on the field, so when game planning, they're going to see me and want to go at me all the time, and I know that. So, I got to be assignment sound, just do my job."

Wide Receiver Da'Wain Lofton

On Jones making the switch from offense to defense:
"It's cool to see him on the other side of the ball. Me and him talk about it every day because we live together. So, we just talk about it. Just talking about going back and forth, different things, seeing different things on the other side of the ball. I knew he was going to excel at the position. I feel like when you go to the other side of the ball, you know a lot of things and tendencies that a lot of DBs do. So you know what a lot of things a receiver does too. It's just going to the other side of the ball."
