Virginia Tech football met with the media Tuesday to discuss the season-opening matchup versus Old Dominion. Read below to see what Tech head coach Brent Pry, wide receiver Ali Jennings and cornerback Derrick Canteen had to say.
Head coach Brent Pry
On playing a home game for the season opener:
"It's been a good offseason. Obviously, everybody's very excited about the opportunity to open at home. Lane Stadium/Worsham Field with our fan base, I couldn't ask for anything better for guys, for our staff and for our fans. Super excited for Saturday night."
Wide receiver Ali Jennings
On quarterback Grant Wells being named the starter:
"I'm excited about him. He can make every throw on the field. He does a great job of being a field general, being our quarterback. I can't wait to see him ball out."
Cornerback Derrick Canteen
On his advice to freshmen preparing to play their first game:
"Just have fun with it. But on the flipside work every day. Don't think about the game on Tuesday. Worry about today's practice, worry about stretching, worry about the lifts we had today. Worry about the process more than just the game and the things you're trying to reach."
